What a Trip!

We are finally back and into the groove of our daily routine and we noticed that we hadn't posted about South Africa!

The trip was amazing! The flights were wicked long, but in the end it was totally worth it. The first part of our trip was spent in Cape Town, we went to Robben Island and visited the prison where Nelson Mandela spent many years as a political prisoner. One morning we spent hiking around Table Mountain which had spectacular views.

On Christmas Eve my dad surprised us and pulled the switch on us. We thought we were going out for Christmas dinner, but he arranged for the hotel to set up a really nice dinner in our room.

We spent a day driving down to the Cape of Good Hope where we reached what felt like the end of the earth (where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet). On the drive to Cape Point we saw all sorts of animals, including Jackass Penguins.

There was a requisite trip to Stollenbosch (wine country) and an afternoon hanging around the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

The second part of the trip was spent at the Mala Mala game reserve if northeastern South Africa. The best way to describe it was that it was like Disney World for adults. Every day had amazing highlights, and in between game drives we got to relax by the pool or play cards and enjoy the warm weather.

All in all it was a fantastic trip. We got to relax, visit with my family and take home some great memories, and way more pictures than we know what to do with!

We have posted some picture highlights for you to check out.
