We had a beautiful Fourth of July this year - much nicer weather than the oppressive heat we've had in the past few years. We made our annual excursion to the Tangletown Fourth neighborhood party, where the kids rode their bikes on a six-block long parade route and bounce houses and face painters met them at the end. Actually, Ryan rode his trike FAST for three of the six blocks, crashed into a mom going far too slow for his style, and then insisted that I carry him, his trike, and the tote bag full of picnic blankets, water bottles and snacks for the remaining three blocks. (Fortunately Oliver and Norah did catch up with us at some point to relieve me!)
We wrapped up the day with the perfect back yard picnic - burgers, hot dogs, watermelon and of course, a birthday cake for America! all celebrated with our dear friends, the Meyers, who welcomed the two newest members of their family just a week before. Six very happy children on a beautiful day? We really couldn't ask for a whole lot more.
