Road Trip

A few weeks ago, the kids and I road tripped over the river and across ALLLL of Wisconsin and up and over the UP and across the massive Mackinaw bridge and through the woods to Grandma and Grandpa's house! Twelve hours in the car (with an overnight stop) is no cake walk but we made it with our sanities mostly intact. The drive was well worth getting to the middle of nowhere, with nothing to do, in the very best way. Simple pleasures, right?

We picked acorns! The biggest, best, brownest, smallest, darkest, lightest....
 We found the perfect pumpkins.
We enjoyed the warm fall sunshine and a tree swing.
My fearless Norah hunted treasures in the back of woodpecker holes... no one else joined her.
A giant Paul Bunyan (or Paul Onion, as Ryan calls him) and  Babe bigger than Norah could have imagined!
 We carved the aforementioned pumpkins,
 toasted marshmallows on sticks,
(at them with varying levels of success...),
watched chickens scratching in the yard,
and Grandma helped Norah make a quilt!
Oh, yes! And very importantly, we had a wonderful time trick-or-treating!

0 Hellos!:
