Best Week Ever

It's the second week of October and Cole Perez is having the Best Week Ever!

It all started when Cole got to sleep in our bed on Thursday night for the first half of the night while Oliver and his friend Brice did "Safe Rides" (which is basically being the on-call designated driver for the other students). Cole snuggled up next to me at around 11 and slept great until Oliver got home at 2:30 and kicked him out of bed and back to his crate!

Then, this weekend we went to our friend Dave's family's cabin in the Adirondacks. Dave and his wife Anna brough their dog, Sam, and he and Cole became best friends right away. Sam is big. Really big. But he was so patient with Cole all weekend. They chased each other around the yard, played fetch together, went on walks.... Mostly Cole played the role of little brother, nipping at Sam's legs and jowls, stealing his toys and generally making him crazy!

By the end of the night, Cole was SO tired. He wanted to keep playing but he just kept curling up into a ball by the fire and falling asleep!

This morning, we took Sam and Cole down to the lake. The lab part of Cole jumped right into the freezing cold water... but whatever else he is got some sense and paddled straight back to shore!! He was stuck between loving it and being scared/frozen to death! Sam of course played the tough guy and swam around for awhile all while Cole stood on the shore barking at him. You could almost hear Cole yelling at Sam, "Get out man, it's not safe! It's too cold and the current is scaaa-ry!" Haha! Oliver and I were doubled over laughing at Cole's efforts to warn Sam!

Anyway, we had a fantastic time relaxing and catching up with friends, but Cole truly, truly enjoyed himself. And that's why Cole Perez is having the best week ever!
